BlueShift is the new operator of HD – Duecitânia Design Hotel

Gross Operating Profit grew by 93% in the first 3 months

BlueShift – Achievers Make the Change is now responsible for the management of HD – Duecitânia Design Hotel in Penela. The hotel management and consulting group took over the full management of the hotel in July, and within just three months, between July and September, increased the gross operating profit of the unit by 93% and total revenue by 25% compared to the same period the previous year.

Located in Penela, just 15 km from Coimbra, and set on a rural property of about 10 hectares, this 4-star unit operates under the motto Veni, Vidi, Vivi, which translates from Latin as I came, I saw, I lived. The hotel, featuring contemporary design with elements evoking the history of the Romans in Portugal, offers a total of 42 rooms, a restaurant, bar, spa, gym, indoor and outdoor pools, and a tent in the garden for events, among other facilities.

In July, BlueShift was hired to take over the full management of the unit, choosing Alexandra Costa, who previously led the Rooms Department at Quinta das Lágrimas, as the Resident Director of the hotel. The overall coordination of the project is led by Pedro Catapirra, a Partner at BlueShift, who heads the Operations Management Achievement Center of this hotel management and consulting group.

In the more than three months since BlueShift began managing the hotel, a profound optimization of all departments has been carried out with the teams. This includes the introduction of management reporting practices (P&L and Budget), revenue management, operational procedures in the accommodation area, and a global restructuring of F&B. In this regard, an ambitious action plan was implemented to increase outlet capture rates, including the creation of new barbecue and buffet concepts, entertainment activities, and show-cooking with Chef Helder Rodrigues, as well as a comprehensive review of menu pricing and the overhaul of banquet and event kits.

The intensive work produced immediate results, both in terms of revenue and profitability. In the combined months of August and September, Total Revenue increased by over 25% compared to the previous year, and the Gross Operating Profit (GOP) nearly doubled, with a year-on-year growth of 93%.
